1977 England Dan and Jon Ford Coley – It’s Sad To Belong

1977 England Dan and Jon Ford Coley – It’s Sad To Belong

England Dan and John Ford Coley played together in a series of bands in Texas in the early seventies, and they finally had a pair of top ten hits in 1976, I’d Really Love To See You Tonight and Nights Are Forever Without You.

The pair’s third single met a familiar fate: It’s Sad To Belong only reached #21 on the Hot 100 in 1977. Following the same route we’ve recently seen for John Denver and Helen Reddy, their single topped the Adult Contemporary chart for five weeks. The impact of disco made it more difficult for light-rock singles to do well for a few years.

The pair once again managed two top ten singles in 1978 and 1979, after which they split up and pursued solo careers.
