1975 Michael Murphy – Carolina In The Pines
Michael Martin Murphy had his biggest hit in 1975 with the top five song Wildfire. He had married his second wife in 1973 and tried to honor Caroline with the single Carolina In The Pines. The record was his follow-up to Wildfire and peaked at #21 on the Hot 100.
He and Caroline divorced in 1978, after which he married twice more.
Michael released a greatest hits album in 1984, which included a remake of Carolina In The Pines. John McEuen of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band played banjo on the new version of the song. While the record did not chart on the Hot 100, it reached the Country charts and peaked at #9.
