1959 Ivo Robić – Morgen
Ivo Robić lived in Croatia and became a singer-songwriter who performed as a solo vocalist with the Radio Zagreb Orchestra. After World War II, he remained Yugoslavia and recorded over a hundred records.
Ivo’s first international hit was the song Morgen, which featured German lyrics. Peter Moesser wrote the song and Ivo’s single featured Bert Kaempfert and his orchestra. Despite the German lyrics, the record even did well in the United States, where it reached #13 on the Hot 100.
Ivo reached the Hot 100 a second time the next year. His 1960 single, The Happy Muleteer, featured English lyrics, but still only reached #58 on the US Hot 100.
Ivo continued working with Burt through the sixties. He even recorded the Yugoslav and German versions of Burt’s composition Strangers In The Night in 1966. Ivo released international hits through at least 1971.
Ivo died after a heart attack in 2000.
